About Us

Nope, we’re not your typical corporation. ELEVATE ME!® was created by our Mom! As a nutritional health food caterer for athletes and sports teams, her mission was to nourish our large family by blending an original recipe protein & energy super-booster containing only premium protein and unsulphured and organic dried fruits.

The goal was to create the world’s simplest protein snack, keeping the finished food as close to what nature created as possible, with no added colors, flavors, or sweeteners. She wanted a treat that would satiate us, taste good, and contain 24% protein, naturally derived carbohydrates and low fat… plus vitamins and minerals.

She started with whole dried fruits. Our many hiking expeditions to the Rocky Mountains of Jasper and Banff taught us the energy value of unsulphured and organic apples, dates, raisins, almonds, cranberries, papaya, mango and so on. Mom then blended the trail mix with a healthy dose of whey protein to rebuild and strengthen our aching muscles.

At first these little treats were blended and served up in spherical ball form. We called them our “power balls”. Demand was high and word spread among local athletes. Mom’s power balls were a hit!

As a family we then incorporated as PROsnack Natural Foods Inc. and began the arduous journey of bringing our beloved products to the world. First we changed the name to ELEVATE ME!® and then the balls were flattened and served up as convenient ‘cookies’ in 66g triple packs.

ELEVATE ME!® has powered us through late-nights at university, to climb mountains in Nepal, to run marathons and triathlons, carve the powder at Whistler, and fuelled one of our founding partners to become a professional beach volleyball player.

We now sell thousands and thousands to a loyal group of customers through our website and in hundreds of health/fitness retail locations. Quality is our primary concern so we prepare ELEVATE ME!® in small batches, taking care with each and every ‘cookie’. If you’re holding a charitable or sports event contact us and we can help out.

EVERY BAR YOU BUY HELPS US GIVE BACK…
What’s the point of working hard and being successful if you can’t share it to help people. So, thanks to you we pay our staff well, and as part of our mission to improve the world around us, we try to spread some good where we can. So every bar you buy goes to help us, our staff and people in need. We give cash donations when a world tragedy strikes and we support local charities with cash and bars including the Boys and Girls Club and the Salvation Army.

KIVA: In addition we have aligned with KIVA: the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to unique entrepreneurs in the developing world. The people you see on Kiva’s site are real individuals in need of funding – not marketing material. We have loaned money to 10 small-time entrepreneurs in Africa so far, and been paid back already. Now we’ll turn that money over and lend it to even more people.

WORLD VISION: With money you spend on our bars we also sponsor 4 children in Africa through World Vision. We are not religious but we advocate hands-on attention and assistance to those in most need.

Global colorsWe’re proud to donate cash from the sale of each bar to www.globalcolors.org which supports guerilla giving initiatives in the poorest countries.

BARTON BROOKS founded Global Colors and continues to run day to day operations. He strongly adheres to the principle that if you think something should be done, well then, figure out a way to just go and do it.

Barton BrooksMy story: I founded Global Colors after years of volunteer work and international travel, starting with a couple of years in London before studying political history and theology in Israel and the Middle East. I developed an insatiable case of wanderlust and explored Europe, North America, South America, Asia, and Africa – and in the process, became acutely aware of the individual needs that plague our world.

Traveling to take pictures and collect souveniers started feeling a bit hollow, and it was in Cambodia where I finally was inspired to make a difference. I changed my life to reflect that, and started my little organization to create projects through random acts of service around the world.
I started back at Angkor Wat, and to make it all happen sold my only asset (a Shelby Cobra replica that I built by hand) to personally fund the first GC projects. I’ll still cry about that car if you catch me on the wrong day, but that beautiful hunk of metal became an education for kids in Cambodia, and changed the lives of some beautiful women in Kenya. So in reality, it was a no-brainer…
